Congratulations to Manue Martinez, winner of our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month for April 2022

Congratulations to Manue Martinez, winner of our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month for April.

Manue is a key part of the Te Tai Tokerau Debris Monitoring Project (TTTDMP) in the Far North, a collaboration between local government, a tertiary provider and business that provides litter data for prevention and advocacy.

In one project, and with the help of local citizen scientists, TTTDMP (led by Manue) has collected and recorded over 3,000 discarded face masks across the Northland region. The vast majority of these (94.5%) are surgical face masks, and they’ve been found discarded in gutters, on the roadside and in car parks.

To keep track of this project as well as their marine litter monitoring project, check out TTTDMP’s interactive website.

Congratulations Manue! As this month’s Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, Manue will receive a Keep New Zealand Beautiful merchandise pack and a Resene paint voucher – along with being automatically nominated for the Tidy Kiwi Award at our next Beautiful Awards! Plus, thanks to Stand Desk we have four desks to give away this year to our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month winners – we’ll draw a winner for this every three months.
