Keep New Zealand Beautiful welcomes new Christchurch Community Branch

Not-for-profit organisation Keep New Zealand Beautiful will now have a branch in north Christchurch, Keep North Christchurch Beautiful.

Keep North Christchurch Beautiful will be headed by Jaimee Newton, a Christchurch local who is passionate about education and the environment.

Jaimee used to work in schools and loved fostering the children’s interest in nature by organising planting days, getting them involved in Kiwi Guardians and running clean ups at the beach.

After Covid-19 hit in 2020, Jaimee made the decision to focus on her passion for the environment and returned to study Environment and Conservation. Starting a Keep New Zealand Beautiful Community Branch is an expression of her ongoing commitment to keeping North Christchurch beautiful.

“I’m excited to be on board. My journey to starting a branch has come from a lifelong passion for our beautiful outdoors. I want to engage the local community and schools in planting days and clean up events in our area which is very popular for swimming, fishing, cycling and boating, but also notorious for litter and needs a lot of work.”

Locals who are interested in joining the branch or volunteering should get in touch with Jaimee via the our website.

By starting a branch in your community, you can help Keep New Zealand Beautiful to create a better New Zealand. For more information on Keep New Zealand Beautiful’s existing Community Branches, or how to start one in your local area, please click here.
