Congratulations to Natasha, our March Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month

Congratulations to Natasha Duncan-Sutherland of Māngere Bridge, Auckland, our March Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month!
Natasha is a woman of action, and she has a passion for her local community — whether it’s collecting litter, organising working bees to deal with graffiti, or single-handedly collecting over 70 abandoned road cones for the council to collect!

She believes that litter, graffiti and abandoned materials can give a feeling of neglect to a community, bringing down the area you live and work in.

After seeing that no-one else was dealing to the problems, she took matters into her own hands with the help of her children and husband. She has organised working bees to deal with graffiti and litter, reports to the local community board, and has even had local shopkeepers gift her drinks in appreciation of her hard mahi!

Even if it’s just picking up a little bit of litter or reporting an issue to your local council, Natasha says every bit helps. She especially remembers passing by a series of ugly concrete blocks that had been abandoned by a construction company for years, until she spent just ten minutes online to report them — the council arranged to remove them the next week.

Natasha says taking action is key, and that it’s easier than you think to get started. She hopes her efforts will also help inspire others to keep their community beautiful.

Ka pai Natasha! As this month’s Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month, you’ll receive a Keep New Zealand Beautiful prize pack including a Resene paint voucher to help tackle local graffiti.

We’re always on the look out for Tidy Kiwis, so if you know someone who is going above and beyond for the environment or is doing great things in their community, nominate them to be our Tidy Kiwi Volunteer of the Month here.
